My
youngest daughter was 9 years old when I was kidnapped. After my release, she
made me promise that one day I would sit down and tell her everything about my
life in captivity.
She kept insisting and I kept putting it off, but a few years ago I finally
gave in, handing her the notes I had written about my ordeal, after I had
regained my freedom.
Once she had read them, and all her doubts and questions had been resolved, I
decided to share my story with the goal of giving anyone who might be in a
similar situation a ray of hope.
It never crossed my mind that this help would come in the form of a pandemic.
Having to isolate oneself from others is a very difficult task. But are we
really isolated?
The
honest answer is that we are not. Technology has provided us with the means to
stay in contact with our loved ones and the outside world.
I hope my story will strengthen your resolve to get through this difficult time
with grace and optimism, becoming even more aware that this too shall pass.
