Alice is half-American and half-German. She grew up in Colombia and attended a French and German school, therefore being fluent in four languages. She has three children and seven grandchildren. After having travelled all over the world, she immersed herself in the spiritual teachings of India and lives by these teachings which have enabled her to serve others thus living her Dharma, or life’s purpose. This is her first novel.
It is a true story based on 13 years of research: the story of friendship between a Jewish boy, Freddy and his Christian friend, Helmut (who are separated by the political turmoil of the aftermath of the First World War in Germany), who obliged Freddy and Freddy’s family to seek refuge in France. It is also the story of friendship between Freddy and George, Freddy’s classmate whom Freddy meets in school in Paris. Moreover, it is also the story of Sigmund, whose patriotic blindness impacted his and his family’s life; the story of Nellie, who left Germany for Colombia before Nellie’s parents sought refuge in France and whose mission would be to reunite the family in a peaceful and friendly country.
Furthermore, the novel also emphasises the emotional costs of the First World War and its indirect result on the onset of the Second World War.
Mother Nature has issued human beings various warnings over the years, some subtle, some not so subtle; messages she intended to wake us up with, ones that would stop us from directing the planet onto a path that, some say, might already be irreversible.
Unfortunately, these messages have largely gone unheeded up until now, which is why Mother Nature has decided to create something new: an Agent that is absolutely unpredictable. Her hope is that humanity will finally wake up and not only begin to preserve the planet, thus saving it from death and destruction, but bringing us humans back to the knowledge that we are one regardless of race, class or colour, and that by working together we can finally attain our freedom.
Mother Nature and the Agent is about paying close attention to the greatest signs she has ever given us, so we can ultimately bring about change and welcome in a new era.
In 1990, Alice Weil was kidnapped in Colombia and held captive in a dark, windowless cell for 269 days.
She tells the story of how she found the resources hidden deep inside her to survive captivity without taking her own life, losing her sanity or developing Stockholm syndrome. Instead, she was able to remain calm and courageous, always being polite and making conversation to her captors and using her time in ways that she would later be able to draw upon her daily life. The story tells of how she realised that experience contributed to who she is today and upon her release, she was able to face her beloved father's passing, continue being a devoted mother and wife, and lead a normal, productive life.
She also learned that she was capable of closing the gap caused by the time she was not part of her family's life or the outside world.
Survival: A Story of Friendship – Part 2 is about the voyage Freddy and his mother, Helene, take to escape Europe and the ravages of World War II. After promising Sigmund on his deathbed that they would reunite the family in a peaceful and friendly country, they make their way via ship to Colombia, the country Nellie had made her home just as the Nazi movement in Germany was gaining momentum. After their safe arrival, Freddy is forced to look for work in order to support his mother and himself while adjusting to new surroundings at the same time. After some fortuitous, work-related encounters, Freddy decides to not only run his own lingerie business but produce the raw materials he needs himself.
This is the story of how someone who was unable to complete school or go to university, due to strictly unfortunate circumstances, had the vision and skills to found a company that would provide jobs and well-being. Thus giving back to the country that granted him what the German Nazi government had taken away from him: his nationality.
Recently, my books were featured in the 2022 Loss Angeles Times Festival of Books. The books were showcased on the various social platforms including Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr.
